    Gerald, in the add reply just below the typing box you will see attachments click that on the arrow to the right a brows box will come up use that to locate your pictures than click the upload when they are uploaded a new box will come up there will be an icon to click to put your picture on your post.
    I am sure others will be along soon to explain it better.

    Gerald - I hope this helps.  I put together a video on attachments and how to add them to a post and it is located in the HOW TO USE FORUMS forum.  The only thing not covered is reducing the size of the picture.  There is a limit on the size of a picture you can attach.  There may be another thread I put together regarding reducing the picture size.  Look in the HOW TO USE THESE FORUMS - read the titles - I think you will find it.

    Anyways - watch this:

    Sixty,
    he was in here this morning, but you know how busy people are.

    Now I have a task for you......
    (Shades of Mission Impossible.)
    Since you do the video demos so nicely....

    Microsoft stopped using a program they used to include with windows and the office suite.
    It is available for download here.
    It still should be compatible with newer versions of windows.

    Your mission, should you accept it, is to make a video as you go through the download and the extraction with making a new folder when it is extracted and creating a shortcut to the extracted exe file. Then loading an image and going through the resizing process. Typically if one re-sizes an image to 800 by 600 pixels and saves the file, it will be within the 500 Kb file size.
    (or so according to my few tests.)

    It would make a nice compliment to your upload an image video.

    Only YOU could do it justice, I could try, but without the video capture and a script, I could never come close to your fine presentation.

    Dang!  The tape exploded before it finished - I am blinded and cannot read your post

    Will give it a try tomorrow at work - sounds like it would be a nice compliment to the attachment video.  I know the resizing requirement would be the most difficult for the non-technical (computer that is) individuals!

    We'll see what I can come up with!

    EDIT!!!

    I clicked on your link here at home - there are a ton of donwloads on that page - the most predominant one is a video editor.  Which program exactly are you referring to??

    Sixty...

    Details:
    * Program: Microsoft Photo Editor 3.01
    * License: Freeware Free
    * OS: Windows Vista, 2003, XP, 2000, 98, Me, NT
    * Requirements: No special requirements
    * Publisher: Microsoft Corporation
    * Homepage: http://www.microsoft.com

    I would advise going through the download process and extraction process.
    There is NO ACTUAL install process, other than one has to make a folder for it, perhaps in the "Program Files" area.
    Also since there is no install program, one must make a shortcut to the exe file that's extracted, you remember that, right click on the exe file and select make a shortcut, then drag that to the desktop, right?

    In it's use, advice can be given as to where to store images and how to organize them. Your method of using a lower case "s" is a good tip.
    Personally I make a sub folder called originals and copy the images to that and then edit the ones in the first folder.
    The resizing is a "good down and dirty" way to get images "smaller" in both physical and file size. I recommend explaining that the program should be set to "Pixels" when resizing. Reason being web stuff is always based on pixels. Also select "Smooth". And I recommend 800 by 600 size.

    Also in the saving of the file, there is a button at the bottom of the save window called "More", with that one need only adjust the JPG quality once and the program will remember it. I recommend 50%. This is a good quality for web use and further reduces file size.

    A test file I worked with starting out as 1024 wide by 768 high with a file size of 207 kb was reduced to 800 wide by 600 high with a file size of only 39.3 K !!!

    There are other possibilities with this basic photo editing program like cropping, sharpening, changing the DPI, some other photo tricks and most importantly under the edit button, an "undo" button!

    The extra features need not be discussed for now, we are only interested in the idea of making an image smaller in both pixel size and file size.

    I'm sure it's easy enough to learn for most, if not all, of the guys that need a basic program to re-size images to share on the forum.

    Like I said, I could do the thing up as a how-to text type posting, but a video would be much more beneficial and you are the one to do it. If you would like me to check it out before you announce it, maybe offer constructive criticism, I'm at your disposal.

    OK - I have accepted the Mission presented to me by Gerry_D

    So anyone needing software to resize pictures can click on this link, watch the 3 short videos to get the software loaded on your pc, then the 4th video will show you how to resize a picture, then I added the video I created awhile ago as to how to attach them to a post!

    Hope this is helpful to some!!

    I'm still having trouble posting my carving pictures as I can't seem to resize them to fit. Also having trouble even finding some of them but that I contribute that to my lack of computer knowledge. Sorry if I caused any anxiety to anyone.

    Gerald,
    no anxiety what so ever!
    Some people just do things better than others, yours is carving, mine may be electrically related things.
    For a while others wanted a resizing program, Sixty found one that worked online and I just found the one that he did the videos on to try and help.
    That's what we're all about in here, helping as we can.
    If you want something re-sized for posting, Take Sixty up on his offer or I can do it for you as well.
    Just click on the WWW in my signature block and at the bottom of the page you will come to is an email link.
    Use that link and send me what you want re-sized. I'll re-size them and send them back pronto so you can post them.
    Sixty and I both have done this in the past for other members.

    As to finding them on your computer, I store all my camera photos in a folder called camera. Probably yours would be stored in "my pictures" inside the folder "my documents".

    One way would be to open up the folder you should have called "my documents" and at the top of the screen will be a search button, click on that and enter " *.jpg " (without the quotes). That will search that area of your computer for all the .jpg files which are typically the way cameras store them.

    I hope that helps, if not use the PM button in my signature and I'll try to help you out through the Private Message system.

    Gerald I had the same issues at one point when we got our new digital camera. As Gerry D mentions the camera software uploaded them into My Pictures (under user Dewey) but it also putin a sub folder and the title for that was the date the photo was taken (or date camera was registered as). I had to search several sub folders to find the pics I wanted. Alos if you open Windows Paint, I resize mine in there to 15% of original height & width. Then save them with a name I recognize and upload them to my blog. After that I can C&P from my blog and post as many as i like into my HCOA thread. I hope this helps. If you need any help with anything I suggested feel free to PM me.

    This is a website with a freebie that is very helpful and easy to use for resizing.  I hope it works for you and all others here.
