I'm a Master Life Member, and if I have to type 5 or 6 characters into a box to possibly win a lawn mower, so be it. what's the big problem with that? |

I'm sure the code is to prevent "bots" from entering the contests. It may be a real concern. The part I don't like is the "receive information from vendors" being checked by default. If you don't notice that and fail to uncheck it, you get a lot of unwanted e-mails and probably will for the rest of your life. I think that is a cheap , stupid stunt. NAHC started doing this stuff a week or so ago. I'm not a life member there, so, I can just let that one expire. |

I to am a life time member.I don't know how a BOT works or how to set one up,and don't need to. In 1994 I became a member and have used and enjoyed the club fetchers until this added step to enter a contest. I have gotten helpful information, and some unwanted. I don't believe the changes should have been done to the members but to the rules to deal with some sort of fraud. Add me to the dissatisfied!! |

Gerry, you said: "IMHO: 1. you are already logged in so you must be a member, but you have to log in a second time!" That doesn't take into account that all 'members' here are not honest ones.. An extra step, yes.. a PITA, yes.. but at least you can read the darn code.. It's not like many where they skew the letters to the point that I can rarely read what the heck they are... I for one don't mind the extra step.. Especially if it will eliminate 'bots' from entering and screwing up my chances of winning myself. If this is the worst problem anyone has in their life, be thankful.. LOL Ez

EZ, you are somewhat right, but a second log-in and a code? Jeepers! For the uninformed, "bots" are little programs written for devious reasons, in this case something that will preform all the functions of a human to enter the contests. The pictures of cryptic text have a digital file name that is unrelated to what the text says, typing in the text opens up a database and compares your answer to the file name of the picture and what it is supposed to be. |

I totally agree with the statement. No member should have to do the extra step whether a regular member or a master life member such as myself. |

Life member myself. Don't care if I need to type in some letters for a contest. Their rules. Only thing I still have a gripe about is not being remembered and doing the login mambo. I've used both last name and member number as well as login ID and password. For those of ya with more serious issues - does this pic help? |

Craig, what's with the BS meter? The DL sees you using that and it'll be this: |

The post below mine called BS. One of my three sober brain cells remembered I had that pic. So...
Noticed you got rid of that double signature... |

What? Beta survivor? The reason I mentioned the double signature was because on this page, today's posts, you had duplicates. One was bold, the other was plain text. Now, you're down to one.
Got my log-in issue resolved. I think. Went off-line and came back on-line a few times...for some strange reason the site is remembering me now. |

Now when I try to enter the contests, I get a failure message of some kind and taken to another page to retry. Of course, that doesn't work either. I suspect it may be because I uncheck the "receive info" box. A couple more updates and/or improvements and I'll just delete the bookmark from my browser. The IT people for these clubs are incompetent. |

I'm confused. My understanding of a 'bot' is to allow the user to enter a contest multiple times. Since each member is limited to just one entry per day, what good would a 'bot' be. IMHO entering the string of letter seems like an extra (and unnecessary) step.
