I'M IN OHIO. I HAVE A 250 GAL STEEL WATER TANK. I BOUGHT AT A FARM STORE. ITS A ROUND ANIMAL WATERERING TANK. IN WINTER I TRIM ALL PLANTS DOWN TO THE TOPS OF THE POTS. PUT NEW PADS IN MY FILTER AS LATE AS I CAN BEAR MY ARMS IN THE COLD WATER (NOV). LEAVE MY 350 GPH PUMP RUNNING WITH A SHORT PIPE ABOUT 1/2 WAY UP TO JUST BUBBLE THE WATER A LITTLE. TO KEEP FROM FREEZING I USE A FARM WATER TANK HEATER FROM THE LOCAL TSC STORE. THINK I GAVE $35-40 FOR IT YEARS AGO. BEFORE THE WATER FREEZES I PLACE THE HEATER IN ABOUT THE MIDDLE OF THE WATER AND LEAVE IT UNPLUGGED. NOW, IF YOU WATCH YOUR MONEY LIKE I DO YOU ALREADY KNOW THIS THING PUMPS 1500 WATTS! SO, IN ORDER TO SAVE ON THE ELECTRIC BILL I ONLY PLUG IN A FEW HOURS NOW AND THEN WHEN THE WATER FREEZES COMPLETLY OVER. A LITTLE ICE ON THE SIDES IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. YOUR KOI USE LITTLE TO NO ENERGY IN THE WINTER AND WILL BE HIBERNATING. I HAVE ONLY LOST A KOI A YEAR AT THE MOST, HOWEVER, I HAVE A FEW 13 YEARS OLD. I'M MORE LIKELY TO WALK OUTSIDE AND SEE ONE THAT JUMPED OUT! ONE OF THESE DAYS I'M GOING TO DIG A NICE INGROUND POND BUT UNTIL THEN, I REALLY ENJOY MY REDNECK POND GOOD LUCK! MATT W.

Maybe this is the only way he can see what he wrote. Maybe EZ can help him out.

Matt, on most forums, including this one, using all capital letters is considered yelling or hollering...

It's been suggested that maybe you did this due to having vision problems or having a hard time seeing what you write... (the default font here is too small IMO)...

I type up my posts in an email, using Outlook... do my spell checking etc.. then do a copy and paste into the posting window for the forum..  I use Arial at a 14 point size, and it makes my posts easy to read by all the most vision impaired.. (including myself.. LOL).

It's no major 'deal'... so don't get all worried about it all.. just try not to use all capital letters when posting, unless you intend to do so..

Thanks...

Ez

THOSE DAM WINDS LAST WEEK OR SO KILLED MY POND!

Every leaf from every tree end up in my pond.

Full top to bottom.

Fish can't swim fish can't breath......

Frogs lived fish did not...

Closed it down for the winter.

First time since I put it in...

Good time to do over hall on it in the spring.

Going to need the solid waste pump to drain it.

What will I do with myself this winter?!?!

No pond to worry about!!!!

No dog crap to pick up!!!!!

Better Snow a lot to keep me occupied..................................
