You’re driving down the highway listening to your favorite tunes when — “Thwack!” — something hits your windshield. You pull over to the side of the road to recover from the shock and find that the glass is chipped. Now what? As long as the damage doesn’t impair visibility, it’s typically safe to continue driving.
Modern windshields are tough, made of two layers of glass bonded to a sheet of polyvinyl butyrate (PBV) in between, so they’re not going to shatter. Once you get home, you can use the following guidelines to decide how to proceed.
