A great way to accent your BellaStone siding is to install matching faux-stone columns. They’re available in a variety of heights, can be used in numerous applications and are extremely easy to install.
Start by digging an 8-in.-dia. hole that’s deeper than the frost line. In this case, I dug down about 36 in. (Remember to check with local codes for any specific requirements to your area.)
Drop into the hole a4x4 treated post that’s a few inches taller than the BellaStone column. Make sure the post is plumb (photo 1); then backfill the hole with gravel (photo 2).
Remove the appropriate cutout — there’s one for both a 4x4 and for a 6x6 post — from the base and top of the BellaStone column (photo 3). Temporarily slide the column over the post and make a mark on the post ½-in. taller than the top of the column. Remove the column and trim the post to the height marked. Slide the column back over the post (photo 4); then secure the column to the post using #8 x 2-1/2-in. screws driven through the recessed screw holes (photo 5). Finally, place the cap over the column and attach it by driving #8 x 1-1/2-in. screws through the cap notches and into the column (photo 6).
