Hi - Just a heads up. I've got a little aluminum hydralic jack, max cap of 3000 lbs. Had it about two years and love it. At about 30 lbs it rides in the trunk nicely and is great for oil changes or tire changes. Could use a little more lift but gets it high enough to get a jack stand under a lift point.
Brings me to this though. Changed the oil and was putting the jack away and found one of the screws holding the thing together laying on the ground.  The side plates and pivot wheels are held together with 5mm button head cap screws. I went around and every one was loose from 1/4 turn to a turn and a half. Seems obvious HF didn't use a thread locker on them. I'll be putting some blue loctite on mine next time I get the jack out. This is NOT a dig about HF tools.. Part of good maintenance procedures should be to check them from time to time and I should have done so a long time ago.... for that matter, realizing it is a discount type item, probably should have checked them and put locktite on them from the git-go.
John - The problem with experience is I usually get it immediately after I need it.

Thanks for the heads up. Reminds all of us to check our tools (not just jacks) periodically to make sure everything is up to par before disaster strikes.

John.. Thanks for the tip, I just purchased a 3 ton jack from HF. I also have 2 two ton jacks and motor cylcle jack, the motor cycle jack blew out on me and needs repair.... When I released it ( twisting the screw) it wouldn't go down so I turned the screw another 1/4 - 1/2 turn nothing. So I tried stepping on it, the next thing I knew the screw blew out and hydraulic fluid went everywhere.
I deffinately will check them, thanks...
