Well its time again to uncover the A/C units and clean them out. MAKE SURE YOU TURN THE POWER OFF TO ALL EQUIPMENT BEFORE SERVICING. Take a garden hose and wash out the coils(remember to spray the the water straight into the fins so you don't bend them over and don't get the fan motor all wet, cover if necessary), change the air filters. Vacuum out the leaves in the condenser, vacuum the blower compartment of the furnace, clean out the condensate drain line/trap. Look the wiring over for damage from mice. Make sure the insulation on the piping is in good shape. TURN POWER BACK ON.  When its over 70F outside turn the unit on and go outside,(there may be a 5 minute time delay)the fan should be running, after 5 minutes run time grab the large line where its not insulated, it should be beer can cold. This will give you an idea how its running. For optimum efficiency a trained tech should check the sub cooling and superheat each season as well as clean the condenser and evaporator coils.Check amps and electrical security. Have a great / cool summer.

Its amazing how much work we got from one hot week. After the warm winter a hot summer might help us catch up on hours we missed this winter.
