Plant some Nepeta cataria (catnip) at the far end from your potted flowers.
Just maybe 'ol cat will hang out there instead of the pots.

I seem to remember a product named "TANGLEFOOT", made just for this purpose, I think that it is basically a double - sided tape, that causes the cat to get sticky on it's tender feet, and they stay away from them on.

I am a long time cat owner. One cat used to love to chew on the potted palm plants. My solution: soak some cotton balls in vinegar and place the balls on the soil around the plant. Cats HATE the smell of vinegar. Cheap and very effective.
BTW -- as to the potted plants outside -- are u sure it's a cat and not a squirrel? Around here, since a neighbor feeds the birds - and thus also the squirrels - we are inundated by squirrels, chipmunks, and ground hogs all of which have gotten into the wife's potted plants.
As to the chipmunks either a black snake (or a semi feral cat) will take care of them.

Nope, not a squirrel or any other rodent.......My neighbors cat has been leaving my post free from his mess and digging since I put mulch in my lower flower bed. He seems to prefer that over potting soil.

Have You talked to the Irresponsible Pet Owner/ Neighbor.

It's not the cat that is the problem.

It would be those that let it roam.

I have at least 4 cats running around. They are not mine. I don't feed them they are strays but they do help
keep the mouse population down.
Larry... Give someone a SMILE today. They just might really need it.

Continue to not feed them and be mouse free...

The house in AZ the neighbors are very responsible pet owners......

Pets are kept inside or supervised outside.

Be that we are so close to the mountains pets are pry to all that is wild.

It a shame it takes something like that to make pet owners responsbile.......

Pets are prey here in my part of Texas also. I've seen cats tanken by owls at night and hawks is the day time. We also have constant presence of coyotes.

Check out this site called safepetproducts.com. It has sonic cat repellents that I use at work. Works real well with feral cats and the neighbors.

If it keeps the neighbors away, I may have to give it a try.
