K9Long, sorry I can't help with this but just as note to you and others, when a member has a problem it is usually answered here at the forums and most of us don't reply via email. There are several reasons why we only answer here:

#1 many of us don't want to share our email addresses, especially with new members we don't know ( no offense intended)

#2 someone else may have the same problem and by answering the question on the site may help someone else later on down the road.

#3 we have a motto so to speak here, and that is to ask for help when you need it and to help where you can. By members answering via email, it does not encourage that member to come to the forums and pay it forward by helping someone else.

Just wanted to say thanks for pointing out the rules. I have been a life time member for several years now and I very seldom get on the website anymore. I dont remember getting on here asking for help. I do thank you for pointing out the E-Mail thing for me. I still need help with the boat motor, any help would be great.
    Thanks again!

Can you tell us the make, the model and the year of the engine?

Not familiar with this "air side" and "fuel side" for a boat engine fuel tank. Can you explain?

I'm suspecting that this is an outboard motor and that you may have used gasoline with ethenol in it. Marine gas is a "MUST USE" in outboards. Ethanol in gasoline creates water and causes the lines to clog. Though I don't own a boat myself, I've heard of the problem several times, living in a seashore community. Good luck!
Any job not worth taking the time to do right the first time, isn't worth the time to do it at all.

    K9

I've been boating for years and have two boats at the present time. I too, don't understand the AIR side and Fuel side.

As has been mentioned, fuel with ethanol in it has been shown to create all sorts of problems with outboard engines.
I can mention a few things that I have found and maybe they will help you.
In both my outboards, I run PREMIUM gas. Not required, but I found that more gas stations have ETHANOL free PREMIUM gas. But not all. For those, I use a newish STA-BIL product for marine use. It is dark green in color and is supposed to negate the negative effects of alcohol on the fuel systems. My 7.5hp two stroke (mix fuel and gas) and my 40hp four stroke (crankcase and oil filter) seem to run well using this method. In all the gas, I use the sta-bil product.

Good luck, let us know if you have more questions!

Somewhere in the back of this OLD mind, something is telling me that the line (Air) is what forces the gasoline FROM the tank to the motor. I'm thinking it was or has something to do with the exhaust and this air line pressurizes the tank which in turn forces the gas up to the motor. If I knew the yr. of the motor I could look in my old Outboard Motor Manuals and see what I can find.

Wishing all a good day and a better one tomorrow from central Mich. in the small town of Owosso

Years ago I had an old evinrude 15hp that used one of them tanks. The local boat guy showed me what he said was a fuel pump where the fuel line hooked up to the motor and that was why I could not update to a new tank with a squeeze bulb. I dont know the year of that motor but it would not run with that bulb.
