Just wanted to let you all know that I picked up a "Quick Clear drain cleaner" (very close to the Zip-It style) a while back..  Can't for the life of me remember where now.. LOL

I can't say that they would work for every type of clog, but for hair in the bathroom sink or tub/shower drain trap, they work a lot better than I figured.  With 2 women with long hair and a long haired dog, ours gets clogged more often than I'd like.

Quick Clear doesn't have a web page (that I could find) but the Zip-It does..

They are about 18" long, about a 1/4" wide and mine has barbs as well as grooves (slots) along the outside edge..  Stick it down the drain, give it a quick twist or two, and pull..  rinse the drain line and your done.

According to Zip-It's site, they are available at the big box stores, Wal*Mart, HF (could not find the listing), True Value etc....  (Lowe's Item #: 161219)

Not a bad product for about $2  IMO....

    EZ,

Good review.  It is good to see this section finally being used for its intended purpose, product review by individuals.

Could you tell us where you got the "Quick Clear" device?

While the "Zip-It" works fine in the way you described, I have found an even better product for cleaning out the over-flow passage in sinks.  Believe it or not that over-flow has a large influence on how quickly the sink drains.  (Don't ask me why.  I have no clue.)  The product is about twice the price but still under $5 it is a good deal.  It is called "Drain Stick".  Here are two links.  The first shows the whole tool.  The second shows it in use and how only the last inch or so has the barbs that both grab and clean.  The entire thing is a little over two feet long but the working part is only about 19".

That is a good review and Iwill be looking for it. It also reminded of a product my wife got from  Stanley-Fuller Brush. A flexible rod and brush that cleans out the crap from the lint trap on the dryer. You would be surprised what bypasses that screen filter.
