Little bits of styrofoam

Lately I have notice when I sweep my Kitchen floor right by the bottom of my dishwasher I keep finding little pieces of styrofoam. Is there something in the dishwash (maybe insulation?) that a little creature might be nawing on? I just found evidence of a mouse in the drawer next to the dishwasher. But I have not seen any mouse. Should I be worried that I am going to very soon find I have a dishwasher in need of repair?

Mice like to chew on wire insulation also. I would try to eliminate the critter ASAP before you need repairs.

Could be shipping material that was not removed.

Whats the make and model.

And a cat is the best thing for mice problems.

And that you should get taken care of ASAP

 Anything is possible.......

I have seen 15 year old door packing pads still on the top corners of the door .................

You might want to remove the lower access panel and take a peek.

Four screws on the toe plate.

Is the tank porcelain?

I think some of those may have used a sheet of rigid foam insulation in the door. It could be being chewed on, or may just be deteriorating with time. You might get a small mirror and look up under the door.

Recently replaced a dishwasher in an 80yo farmhouse - rats had eaten the plastic supply line, discharge hose and the inside of the dishwasher itself.

We think so.  Trapped a few, and sealed every crack, hole, etc that we could find.  And we are on high alert for any new signs.

Also replaced all supply lines in the house with braided metal.
