Just spotted this on the news. Stanley tools has purchased Black & Decker. I guess in the consolidation more jobs will be lost.

Well there goes Black and Decker as we knew it. And no doubt about more jobs being cut.

One day all the tool companies will be merged into one jumbo corporation.  That will eliminate the need for some of the companies to compete with other ones.  All variations of a particular tool will have the same quality.  Nothing will be different and you won't have any decisions to make when you purchase a tool.  The name of this jumbo coporation, you ask, will be "The Chinese Government", with branches in North Korea, Laos, India (customer support), and Mexico.

This is not a joke.  It's the truth.

Ray, do you suppose they may open up call centers in the US, so we can have a turn annoying the non-english customers?

Well, lets look at the US auto industry.

When did the stronger mfgr take on lesser brands?

Can you say GM?

Call centers are the only bright spots in the economy.  Companies are starting to return the call centers to the USofA.  You can handle the wrong information, stupidity and nastiness from a fellow American, but not from a foreign jerk.

I hear the new company will be called Stanley Black & Decker. The only problem I see is, if all the tool companies eventually merge, the company's name could become very long...Stanley Black & Decker Skil DeWalt Craftsman Freud...
