I'll try again. Engelbert, you and your garage photos (not to mention your Porsche 911) are a breath of fresh air. Thanks.

I'm glad and not glad it's happening to you also Gary.  It get's kinda frustrating.... doesn't it.  But I know for a fact it can be fixed.  Knowing from my experience in the IT field, if you don't know why it's acting the way it's acting, someone else will, just need to ask the right people...  Or maybe they just need to ask?

Yes it is, KDenn. As I said in another thread yesterday, Monday I met with the tech people, who are making a list of things that still need to be changed -- and should be (how many I don't know yet) changed within a week. In the meantime, we manage the best we can. Fresh content is appearing on the Home Page today and tomorrow. Apparently, by featuring the vidoes last week, they got a lot of traffic. This is good.

I must add i do enjoy the new web site.  Lots to stuff to enjoy, I'm sure others hitting the home page are enjoying it too.  It's just hard when people are use to doing things one way, and it up and changes on them over night.  Hope they weren't too upset for frustrated with our reaction.  I get that all the time when we come in and "upgrade" their computers, they aren't always pleasant cause it's not like is use to be...  Change sucks sometimes, but people get use to the change...

Great photos one and all!

It has been sometime since I did our garage so I'll post the shots I took "back then".  We are getting ready to finish the basement so the garage isn't as empty now as it was then.  Nice thing about the basement work is I will be getting a 300 square foot workshop, can't wait.

Hello FTOWNEND That's very cool, I wish I had these tiles. I settled for the cheap epoxy. However, when that stuff is worn enough, I think I have an exuse to get the tiles. BTW the is a website, where you can buy these tile for $1 each.

Here is the link http://www.floortilecloseout.com/

This is realy something I will think about.

Cheers

And here it is...  The area I'm taking the picture from is my assembly area.  To the right, just at the edge of the photo is my radial arm saw and my table saw on a movable stand.  Most of my tools are benchtop models so I can store them under my assembly workbench.  I'm 6' 3" and my shop is 6' 4"  I had to remove the heels from my boots to work in there...LOL

Well OK here's a few shots  of what I've got to work with. The main body was here when we bought the place it's 14 x 20 and the office was added 3 weeks ago it's 10 x 14. I did put on a new roof so at least every thing stays dry now. When I hit the lotto I'll tear every thing down and call the General. lol

Since I can't seem to get 1/2 my questions posted on the new forum updates section, I'll post the question here and hope they see it.

Where are the links to the pictures everybody has posted. The rest of the post is there but the pictures have disappeared. Were they posted in disapearing computer ink?lol

Thats the way mine was before the office/tool room was built. After the addition it took me about 10 days to get it to the way it is in the pics I posted. Now of course I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING lol. Any way I'm gonna drink one to your shop.

And it's a shop again.  Now I can actually use it for what I built it for...  It feels good to "walk" into my shop instead of "manuvering" into it...LOL

Another clean shop...  WOW.  I have too much wooddust in my shop to get it that clean.  I open the window and the doors, power up my compressor and get a dust mask on and air blow it once in awhile.  That's about as clean as my shop gets...LOL

I'm happy I can "work inside" my shop and not climb around things in there and drag them out into the yard.  I still have a few things to do.  Need to rebuild my dust collection system.  That's what makes it the worst, is the cuttin and sandin.  And if I get off my duff and build my dust filter using my old A/C circ fan, that would help too.  Thanks Woodwizard.

I'm just starting to get my workshop - we bought this house last year that and has a GREAT outbuilding - fully heated and amazingly insulated....  starting to get my collection of toys after deciding to buy tools and redo my kitchen myself instead of paying $2500 to have someone else do it.

I currently have a two car garage.  The  existing 8' doors need replacing, I would like to install two 9' Wide doors.  Over the Garage we added an addition to the house.  Between the doors is a 33" wide post, which if I take out would allow me to get two 9' doors.  How can I tell if this "post" is a weight bearing post, besides having the upstairs fall to the ground!  (I realize I would still need something in the middle for the doors, like a 2x8?)  Any information will be greatly appreciated.  Sincerely, Mel

First Mel, you should put this in a new topic under remodeling.  You'll get more answers.

Any post or section of an exterior wall is load bearing.  You'll have to hold up the ceiling/second floor while you're replacing the post.  You may want to check with a structural engineer to see how narrow a post you can put in that spot.  Also, a wider door opening may require a thicker header to hold things up above the door.
