I'm an Electrician and I've seen lots of things and some were so cute I had to get a picture of it. This is one I found and sent it all over the place. I thought I would share it with all of you guys too. Rocky Life Member Since 01/2003

I'm sorry but I don't chew tobacco. May I ask how deep and how big is the diameter of the can? TORINO

I guess you electrical experts are going to say that's against the code. Ray, Monroeville, PA.

I've heard electricians talk about "letting the smoke out" of some electrical component or other. It is a good thing that is smokeless tobaco. Bob Hoyer ......

Great picture!! I studied that in great detail and have come to the conclusion that the wires entering and exiting are either thermostat or doorbell wire.?? They really don't look like romex, to small in relation to the snuff box! What is the old saying? "Necessity is the mother of invention"!! I've seen my share of telephone wire 'abortions' too. The one I like is where a phone wire is used as a clothesline in the basement, or outside, the service wire is used to hang clothes. Got a complaint/service call once where a lady said that the telephone wire (outside) made her cloths black. (old rubber covered wire)!!! Just when you think you've seen/heard it all........ Bob you got it right!!!!! It's to the thermostat. The A/C unit sits right above this overhang, they didn't want to put a hole in the roof up high so they dropped it down and made a hole closer to the edge and made a connection from the exsiting wire just under the overhang. They wanted to somewhat protect the wires so they put them in the can and sealed it with tub & tile caulking. I saw it when I went to the house for an electrical problem. Had nothing to do with the A/C unit. I thought it was cute and the homeowner let me take a picture. LOL's Rocky Life Member Since 01/2003 Nothing like a good cup of coffee and cigar. Torino The cans are roughly 2 1/2 dia by 1 deep. They are handy for a lot of small things. Most of the cans now are made of plastic with metal lids.

RLAND; unfortunately that pic looks like something one of my ex-maintenance techs would do (but only to a 120 junction box). Thanks for the photo. Gregg (Seabeck 98380)

Alack & Alas, what will us non smokers and non chewers do when faced with such a dilemma? Perhaps we can lobby candy makers to use insulation material for candy wrappers! Sure could get us started on a totally re-useable material and cut down on Land Fill
